Anacondas: The Largest Snakes in The World + Their Horror Stories!

It is a well-known fact that anacondas are considered to be the largest snakes that can be found on the face of this earth and rightly so.
You must have often seen references being made to this giant snake in a number of horror movies where the audience is scared with the idea that the anaconda has the ability to swallow adults.
One of the most popular examples is present in the rather famous movie ‘Anaconda’, which was released in 1997.

Green anaconda is said to be the heaviest as well as the largest snake, which can reach up to 24ft. There have been several snakes detected that are nearly 17ft in length.

You will find that a normal adult green anaconda usually measures around 16 to 18ft. The heaviest of the species is one that weighs around 545 pounds, while the longest has a length of around 28ft.
There have also been reports about anacondas that are as long as 43ft or even longer. However, it is prudent to remember that there is no real proof to support these claims and thus, one must be cautious in paying heed to them.
You will not find a snake that is of the said size in any museum and thus, there is no concrete proof that a snake of such length exists.
Many people have made an attempt to catch a snake that would support this claim. While it might sound incredulous, the truth is that a prize money of fifty thousand dollars has been suggested for the person who would manage to catch an anaconda that is 33ft or longer in length.

A look at the body of the snake will tell you that it is olive green in color and there are dark coverings present across the whole body.
You will find that the head of these snakes is quite narrow in proportion to its body. A distinguished yellow striping is characteristically present on each side in most of these snakes.
Their eyes are rather high on the head. Due to this feature, the snake has the ability to keep an eye out of the water when it is swimming while ensuring that its body remains hidden and it does not have to reveal itself.
Due to their large size, anacondas have been the subject of quite a few studies. However, complete information about them has still not been attained and there is quite a bit that one is left to wonder about these snakes.
Perhaps, the threat that is posed to those who get too close to the snake is one of the reasons for this. However, the fact remains that it is one of the most intriguing species of snakes out there.
